- Cherry offers several opportunities for students to explore and improve upon their musical talents. Private voice lessons are recommended for middle school students through adults.
- Cost: $120 per month ($150 for 5-week month), payable at the first lesson of the month. Missed lessons may only be made up with sufficient notice.
- Lessons are 30 minutes long. Cherry is very punctual and expects students to be also!
What you can expect: Some prior vocal training is highly recommended, but not required. In a 30-minute weekly lesson, student will study vocal technique, including tonal placement, breathing, vowel formation, posture, and range. Student will develop repertoire based upon their ability level, interest, goals, and teacher recommendation.
Cherry offers her students the best of both worlds – she is classically trained in vocal pedagogy and literature, but also has done extensive training in pop, jazz, and Broadway music. Cherry can help students work through basic vocal technique while also serving as a style coach. Cherry is a vocalist who sings often, and is a competent and enthusiastic teacher who can’t wait to share this love of music with her students! She firmly believes that music is an integral part of a student’s education.
As a performer, Cherry has been a soloist with the Sacramento Symphony, the Cal Expo State Fair orchestra, and has appeared as a featured soloist in several Broadway revues. While a member of the Soundsation Singers, Cherry appeared in Sacramento, the bay area, and Tahoe, and performed in two television specials.

Student will even have the opportunity to experiment with composition and improvisation. Student will develop repertoire based upon their ability level, interest, goals, and teacher recommendation.
Cherry began her study of keyboard instruments at the age of 7. She has instructed students ages 7 to 77! Cherry is an accomplished pianist who plays often. She is a competent and enthusiastic teacher who can’t wait to share this love of music with her students! She firmly believes that music is an integral part of a student’s education.

Cherry offers two unique opportunities for middle school students through adults to explore and improve upon their musical talents in a small group. For more on Cherry’s training and background, please see information given under “Private Voice Lessons.”
- Cost for either group: $50 per month ($62.50 for 5-week month), payable at the first lesson of the month. Missed lessons may not be made up, but with sufficient notice, a student is welcome to make up the lesson with another group, provided a similar group is available.
- Small Group Vocal Instruction: Recommended for the beginning to intermediate level student. In a 45-minute weekly lesson, student will study vocal technique, including tonal placement, breathing, vowel formation, posture, and range. Student will develop repertoire based upon their ability level, interest, goals, and teacher recommendation. Groups will be comprised of 3-5 students. Every attempt will be made to place students of similar ability and experience in groups.
- Small Vocal Ensemble Instruction: This is very similar to Small Group Instruction, with one major difference: This is a group of 3-6 students who want to sing together. In other words, vocal technique will be taught, but the emphasis for repertoire will be that of a performing ensemble. Whether it be jazz, barbershop (guys or girls) or working toward traditional repertoire for a festival such as Golden Empire, students will sing as an ensemble.
